UPCOMING EVENTS FOR 2013

Exciting events to watch for this year!

Summer Fun Run

Really Fun Run for Novice Agility:  Gain confidence in trialing and lose your jitters!  This fun run will be for students who have never trialed before.  Simple novice course will be set-up and will be run just like a trial… without the pressure.  If you are a novice student and are likely to enter trials later this summer and fall, this fun run is for you.

Hosts: Holli, Shirley, and Susie
Date: Saturday, July 20, 2013
Location: DAD practice field at Mary's
Time: Set up at 8:30 a.m.
Judge’s briefing at 9 a.m., followed by walk through
         Runs begin about 9:30 a.m.
Who: Morning runs are open to all first and second year students of agility, members and non-members of DAD.   After that, the course will be available to all DAD members of any level.
Cost:  $10 for unlimited runs for each team
Course: Novice level with an emphasis on jumps and tunnels

Fun runs are designed for beginning teams and those just starting to compete.  An experienced DAD member will act as a judge, and other members will be available to mentor teams, offer support and make handling suggestions.

It’s the perfect environment to practice skills and have fun with your dog.

Kathy Nickell July 4th Fun Run: On July 4, 2011, DAD lost one of our most active members: Kathy Nickell. In 2012 to commemorate Kathy and to celebrate all she did for DAD, we had a Fun Run and Picnic for the membership. The plan is to do it again in 2013. It will be at the field and we'll try and set a couple of courses at different levels so everyone can come out and have fun!

Fun Runs:  The training committee encourages any club member to set up a club fun run.  With two trials each summer, it would be great to have the opportunity to work in the trial setting.  If you are interested, please contact Eric to come up with some possible dates.  June, July, and September are good months to consider.

Leading competitors and instructors in the country are brought in to offer multiple-day training seminars. Upcoming seminars will be announced as the information comes available.

Once you are on the AKC website you can look up AKC agility trials and view all the clubs who are putting on trials by state and date.

Instructions: Go to www.akc.org, select "Events & Awards" > Search > Select Date Range & Competition type ("agility") > Click on all states you want to view > Search. This will bring you to a very detailed calendar listing all the trials in those states, with most current trials listed first. You can select "Get Club info" and "Get Map" for further details on the event.

If you are interested in what dogs placed in past trials, you can select the club's name in the calendar and it will take you to dates of that club's past trials, who took what place, their time etc.
