Durango Agility Dogs is a volunteer-based, member-driven club of dog agility enthusiasts in
southwest Colorado that provides opportunities to learn, practice, compete and provide venues for competition in
a skilled, safe and supportive environment. Members adhere to the highest principles of sportsmanship and
ethics for the welfare of dogs and handlers.
Whether handlers are interested in competition or
exercise, DAD's goal is to have fun with our dogs by encouraging
positive motivational training methods. The club's purpose is to introduce handlers and their dogs to the
team sport of canine agility by providing classes and a venue for
training. DAD welcomes all dogs regardless of size, age or breed;
however, we recommend dogs be at least 10 months of age, sound and at
a healthy weight.
Canine agility is a team sport in which the human
handler and dog partner navigate a sequence of obstacles. A strong
human-canine relationship, good obedience skills (including the ability
to work your dog off leash), and clear handler-to-dog communication are
required to be successful.
The purpose of this website is to provide a place
for our members to check in for upcoming events and meetings, training
schedules, download club forms (member application, agility training
class forms and others), view past and current club newsletters,
showcase photos of our four-legged best friends, brag a little about our
dog's accomplishments, and to encourage new agility enthusiasts to get
involved with their dogs in this wonderful activity. Agility is fun and
it is a healthy way to spend time with our dogs.
